Maurice Sendak 1928-2012

It is my sad job to report that Maurice “Where the Wild Things Are” Sendak passed away yesterday at the age of 83. He passed due to complications from a stroke.

Known most widely for this book Where the Wild Things Are, which he wrote and illustrated himself, Mr. Sendak had an impressive amount of other childrens books. The most recent one Bumble-Ardy was produced eight months prior to his passing.

I remember growing up reading Where the Wild Things Are, but sadly it wasn’t the story that really caught my attention. To me, the artwork stood out as a beautiful piece of tapestry. It’s never easy to write and illustrate such things, but sometimes it’s the only way you can truly make sure your vision comes to life. The loss of such talent is truly felt when they pass from this world. However, Mr. Sendak will always have a sort of immortality through the works he left behind.

We here at SciFiFX send our deepest sympathies to his family and friends for his passing. He will be missed.
