Benson Co-Writes Buffy Comic
03-27-01
Amber Benson--who plays Willow's love interest, Tara, on The WB's Buffy the Vampire Slayer--will co-write a Willow and Tara comic book for Dark Horse, the comic publisher announced. Benson will join Buffy comics writer Christopher Golden and Terry Moore on the one-shot book.
The comic will center on the relationship between UC Sunnydale students Willow and Tara, which is complicated by the arrival of an overeager new Wicca. "This comic is about the special friendship between Tara and Willow," Benson told the Dark Horse official Web site. "So, Chris Golden and I really tried to [imbue] our story with the idea that friendship, when put to the test, can help us overcome anything."
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Willow and Tara goes on sale April 4 for $2.99.

Straczynski Updates Spidey
03-14-01
Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski told the Comics Continuum Web site that he wants to make Marvel's Spider-Man comic relevant to current teens. Straczynski takes over the series with the release of Amazing Spider-Man No. 30 in April, the site reported.
"I feel that Spider-Man has lost his relevance," Straczynski told the site. "I want to bring him back to his roots, throw him into the streets of New York and put him in powerful social situations that he hasn't encountered for a while." The site reported that Straczynski's storyline will return Peter Parker to his old high school as a science teacher, where he will face problems such as homelessness, teen pregnancy and urban blight. Marvel also told the site that Straczynski will raise questions about Spider-Man's origins and whether he is the only one with his powers. John Romita Jr. remains the artist, and J. Scott Campbell is the new cover artist for the series, the Continuum reported.

David Writes Hulk's Last Stand
03-05-01
Marvel Comics writer Peter David told an audience at the Orlando MegaCon that he will re-team with former Incredible Hulk artist Dale Keown on a new Hulk story, the Comics Continuum Web site reported. "Marvel is doing this series called The Last, the last stories told about Marvel characters," David told the convention. "They asked me, 'Would you like to write the last Hulk?' And I told them I already had."
David was referring to "The Last Titan," a short text story in a collection called Ultimate Hulk. "It was the Hulk as basically the only thing left on Earth," David said. "So they said, 'OK, do you want to adapt it?' And so Dale Keown and I are together again on 'The Last Titan.'"
