Rules of the competition:

1) All works submitted must be original efforts of the person(s) submitting them. Works submitted will remain the copyrighted property of the artists or authors creating them.

2) SciFiFX.com and/or it's employees shall in no way be responsible for altering, editing or otherwise changing the appearance or content of any submission, with the following exceptions:

a) As this is a family content site, excessive or abusive language will not be posted in public areas. Entrants who submit works containing such will be contacted at the address they provide, and requested that they edit the piece themselves to reflect our audience. If they are unable to do so, their work may be posted on a password protected page to prevent minors from viewing or downloading it.

b) Artists are encouraged to submit any and all works. If you are unable to provide artwork that does not present nudity or conduct of an adult sexual nature, we will place it on a password protected page, however.

3) If you would like to submit a work that does not fall within the current parameters of the contest, please see the contest page itself for a schedule of different contest dates and/or themes. You may submit your work up to one year in advance of any given contest, though it will not be posted until that month's theme or category is available for voting.

4) All entrants for a particular contest will be required to pay a nominal fee. This fee will be used to fund the prizes for that contest, as well as for development of new contests and/or website features.

5) Judging for the contest entries will be peer-based. Each entry will have a ranked voting system above, below or beside it, allowing viewers to click on radio buttons valued at 1 to 5 points. For the purposes of judging the winners, scores will be totaled and divided by the total number of votes cast; at the end of each contest period the top three scores will be posted. The first place winner will then be contacted by email, and arrangements made to deliver their prize.

6) Each contest shall commence on the first day of each month, and end on the last day of that same month, unless otherwise stated. Prizes will be shipped within two weeks of delivery address confirmation. Electronic-based gift certificates will be delivered within one week of confirmation of winner's email address. Shipments will be fully insured and tracked where available. Please allow up to 8 weeks for prize delivery to addresses outside the United States.

7) Following each month's contest, all entries for that contest will be posted instead to the appropriate category on the main FanFic or FanArt pages, and the contest area cleared for the new contest entries.

8) Authors or artists wanting to submit large files (such as animations), or those wishing to pay their entry fees with a paper check, are encouraged to send those fees or files to us via snail mail if they so choose. Entries received by mail after the fifth day of any contest period will be logged as entered for the next appropriate contest month. Please be sure to indicate on your correspondence which contest and month you are entering.
